I know it's confusing to a lot of people; I can't explain why I find it so obviously easy.When you (you of a base 10 society, like, oh, all of you reading this) begin to count, which number comes first?
ONE? Yes!
When you get to the end of your fingers, which number is that?
TEN? Yes!

When counting Decades, Centuries, and Millenniums, the counting begins with ONE!

This year, 2010, is the final year in the first decade of the 21st Century and 2nd Millennium C.E.
While I'm at it, this is a Canada Goose.
