I ♥ Gregory House

I watched an episode years ago, at Sandra's house circa 2005. I've thought of her each time I flip through a random showing. Not until a recent marathon did I find my soulful connection to one Mr. Doctor House... He's in pain. I'm in pain. He takes pills and crabs at people. I take deep breaths and strive not to unnecessarily crab at people. In one episode, he is under some serious pressure from Cuddy, et al, to stop his addiction to pain meds. In his stand to justify his need, the exchange goes something like this:
Cuddy: You take pain pills.
House: I'm in pain.
Cuddy: You take a lot of pain pills.
House: I'm in a lot of pain.
at some point he begins to drop his trousers for her, and we get to see the scars he bears, and he says something like, Seems to me there should be a thigh muscle right here.

I wish I could just point out my scar and say seems to me there should be a Hannah right here...

wow, diana, your last sentence stopped my breathing for a minute. i remember when cassidy was in the hospital, we were on the way back there, and stopped to get coffee. i was in so much emotional pain, and could not believe people were walking around so normally. i wanted to walk up to them and point out my pain, turn myself inside out and show it to them... it hurt so bad i did not know where to put it. we know, don't we, that it is still in us...it's a part of us, and it never heals, and we will never be who we were. big hugs to you friend.

stopped me in my tracks, too, you did. Susto, my friend. That's called susto. And I wish I knew how to cure it, but I don't.

I felt like something punched me in the diaphragm. I feel for you. I admire you. Not in your grief, but in your joy. Never a child, but one very important person-- I have known loss. You never get over it. You just live around it. That's not advice, I wouldn't even think to presume to give you advice. Just a voice of "I sort of understand."
