You are the embodiment of why I cannot call myself a feminist. I don't believe that a paid job is ever more important than the unpaid honor of being a mother. Your children need their mother. Period. The fact you returned to work three days after giving birth to a child with special needs reflects how little your bonding with this new life means to you. You chose to have babies. As an adult, you are well aware that sexual intercourse without birth control means you run a very high risk of getting pregnant (Penis+Vagina=Baby; P+V=B, for short). The honor you feel in the receiving of this special soul is moot in the face of the disregard you've shown by putting your paid job over the needs of your child; all babies need and deserve their mother available to them. Will you openly and willingly disregard the needs of your family for the needs of this country? Your answer of *yes* only fuels my passion for your loss at the polls.
Further evidence of your disregard for your children is evident in your daughter's announcement of her pregnancy before marriage. Lord knows I have no issue with children conceived and/or born outside of wedlock -- I was a one-night-stand baby who's parents have been married for 40.5 years. I have HUGE issue with folks who stand on their bible and state "Abstinence Only" is the only method of sexual education our kids need. Looks like your hypocrisy has bitten you in the proverbial ASS, honey! If only your daughter could have come to you for support in choosing an effective form of birth control. If only you would have talked to your daughter about the options of physical love available to her. If only she'd known that outercourse and oral sex were of no to low risk for pregnancy & disease. If only you were open to knowing and supporting her first great love affair.
And while were on the topic of pregnancy... I really don't mind of a man thinks women are too stupid to be granted the same privacy in the doctor's office that the constitution guarantees all citizens; they're far from being a woman, it's okay. For a woman to support this idea, is completely beyond my human understanding. And yeah, that's exactly what I think the so-called "Pro-Life" movement really is: the overwhelming belief that the constitution doesn't apply to women, the weaker gender. So, we're smart enough to run for vice-president, leaving our children to the care of strangers, but we're not smart enough to have a private conversation/procedure at our doctors' offices? hmmmm... please explain how this makes sense in your mind. (for what it's worth, I am full-on Pro-Life, I think life is amazing and everyone who has a chance to live should take it; doesn't mean however, that I am anti-choice or somehow selective in my application of the constitution. I guess that makes me 100% Pro-Constitution)
I can't even touch on the politics you stand for... Have you seen the tenants of the Republican Party? They're here, on the official Republican Party page. If you read them carefully, you will understand, as I do, that I am more of a Republican than the people you're meeting with on a regular basis. Perhaps you should take these to heart, they're more important to the Vice President's job than the 10 Commandments. Truly. (e.g. while the commandments have nothing to say about shooting your best friend in the face, the republicans would say that act violates the first tenant: ...each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored)
I look even more forward to your ticket's defeat this coming November than I had before you joined the team. I think it's only fair for me to state clearly exactly why I'll be working tirelessly to ensure your family does not become the model of what is healthy, happy and right in America today.
Namaste,
me ♥

So who did you piss off and why are you apologizing now????????? You are you! You think for yourself, not for anyone else. What the hell is everyone's problem??????? Love ya!
From Snavleys:
I am completely with you on some levels- I'm split about 50/50 on things I love and hate about Sarah Palin. She is from my here(where I live), her parents were my next door neighbors up until three years ago, when we moved into another house. I'm totally with you on the children need their mother thing but, in her defense, her husband has given up his career to be caretaker of their children. So at least they do have a parent available to them all the time. On the other issues you brought up, yes, completely agree. She does have a lot of balls though and she has stood against the big oil companies and special interest groups and has not taken any crap and for that I love her. She has balanced our budget, gotten rid of some pork-belly projects, put a hold on gas taxes and given back the surplus to the people to help offset gas prices. She has done a lot of good in our state and is quite popular here. We are a conservative state though. I just wish religion stayed out of politics, I hate that!
There sure seems to be a huge difference in what people in AK 'think' she's done. Have you read that other Alaskan's POV that's going around...I think her name is Ann Kilkenny, if not, do a search and you'll pull it up. Very interesting 'other side of the story'. I wonder what the truth is? Watching her speak during the Repub convention, Palin seemed arrogant, sarcastic and mean-spirited/snarky....and very scary to me.
I was almost shocked at the stark difference between the Reb and the Dem conventions. Reb = nastiness, rednecky type rabble rousing and snarkiness...like a bunch of sneering bullys. The Dem convention, OTOH = people were JOYFUL, hopeful, inspired. The dif was striking!
Actually I can't get past the first "I believe" in the tenants, because of the ambiguity in the definition(s) of the word "believe". While "I believe" may be merely intended to mean "I take as fact" or "I am convinced that", it is too easily confused with "I believe" as used to express a conviction that cannot be proven as fact. An "unbeliever" is generally understood to be a person who is not convinced of the veracity of "facts" which require a leap of faith. Consider the argument that people with scientific training must "believe in evolution" in precisely the same way (that is, with a leap of faith) that a person might "believe" in the teachings of a religion. Not exactly...which brings us to the governor of AK. I've familiarized myself with most of the information, right or wrong, which has surfaced about this candidate so far, and haven't found a shred of evidence that she's even remotely qualified for the job. She doesn't seem to be a "deep thinker" (and, yes, for this job I do expect a mental powerhouse, not a cheery optimist who wants religion taught in science class because she personally can't tell the difference), her statements about her record don't agree at all with those in the public record, and the family makes quite a bit too much money to ever be described as "average". The only thing that was average (apparently) was her education, which we haven't heard much about, although her party has poked fun at the education of the other presidential contender. That RNC "Country First" stuff got us into a middle eastern bonfire which has burnt up most of our assets. I'm not itching for more of the same, repackaged in a suit that costs more than the total of my wardrobe for my entire adult life. Oops....this turned into a rant. Time for some yoga.
Cheers!
Deborah
The only thing I was defending was what Diana said about her being an absent mother; of which, I somewhat agree but I do know that her husband is present. I will not be voting for McCain in November so I'm definitely not agreeing with Palin's stances. Some of her stances on the issues, quite frankly, scare me to death! This morning there were a few articles in our local paper about her and things she had said, whoa baby! Scary! Completely against gay rights, abortion choices, and thinks the war in Iraq is "God's will", her words!!! Are you serious Sarah? Apparently, a lot of Christians feel that way. I hope, for that sake alone, that the two of them don't get into office.
