As soon as I hit publish and the words ":::deep breath::: I'm still taking my time, fluffing all the branches. I'm still waiting to put up Eeyore and the ornaments" hit the internet tubes, Hayden calls me to the living room. He's anxious to get Eeyore up on top. Now, please.
Eeyore's been with us for a very long time, since December 2000, the kids' first trip to Disneyland, after Mitch's second funeral. We'd already gotten off some ride or another and I ran up to the big display table, having discovered the perfect gift for Mitch. It was bittersweet; it still is. Now Hayden wears the Daddy-intended Santa Hat with Goofy Ears
When we got off the next ride, the giftshop-at-the-end contained this little guy. He so well represented me-at-that-moment, I had to buy him. When we got home, he went up on the tree. There he's been every Christmas since. And he's there now, four days early. And I'm breathing.

All is as it should be. And it is good. Amen.
