3. Mariah CareyAll I want for Christmas is you. Back when her charm had not yet turned that corner. A Mitchard staple. 4. Mary did you know? Do any of us know? Look into your baby's face, even the grown ones, and wonder what it is you don't know you don't know. 5. The Broadway Kids Sing Christmas. Hannah and Elizabeth once sang "Earth and Sky" for my Solstice program at church. 6. And because I'm a Gen Xer, for real, there's Band-Aid; wherein everyone is pretty, has pretty hair and is incredibly English. And young. I feel old now; I am older now than Bono in that video. George Michael looks 12 for cry-eye. sheesh.
7. Gloria Estefan's Silent Night
I saw this video on Christmas Day, 1995. I didn't stop crying for hours, not even after I found out I was pregnant with Hannah.
8. If I were musically inclined, at all, and if I were surrounded with supreme talent; and if we had the tiniest inclination to take advantage of the pharmacopoeia of the 1970s, at our fingertips, I'da made songs like Step into Christmas and it's very fun b-side, Ho! Ho! Ho! (Who'd be a turkey at Christmas?) Instead I'll live vicariously through Elton et al 9. The Hippo Song
10. The Chipmunks
11. Bruce Springsteen. Singing anything Christmasy. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm Nothing says Christmas like a hometown boy, even if it's not my hometown. 12. I must like to cry at Christmas.
I had a great talk with the boy about this song, imagining the children singing now being old enough to have children fighting in Iraq. "How ironic," he said. Indeed.
13. John Denver and the Muppets. Aaaaah, it's really Christmas now! Then, I stumbled upon the same song by the true icons of Generation X: Bob and Doug Mackenzie
Now, your Christmas is complete, too.

What a great list!!! That John Lennon song was haunting even before I saw the video you posted. That won't be soon forgotten!
Oh, and the Live Aid song, that has become a standard around here. ;)
But the Bob and Doug song, I had forgotten all about! How could I forget the infamous duo who etched "oo oo-oo oo oo oo-oo-ooooooo" and "eh?" into my brain?

Band-Aid! I can still name every singer by voice, my husband thinks I'm nuts but really, I was just a Durannie.
And I LOVE David Bowie and Bing Crosby's Little Drummer Boy.
